Sierra Scott is a Wichita legend, and now at the age of 52, she is the winner of the prestigious Ms. Woman United States pageant and will be touring the country in celebration.

Toting her crown and sash, Scott appeared on last weekend’s episode of Michelle & Company.

“You’re going to laugh about this, I didn’t go to win,” Scott said about the pageant, “this is the best self improvement course in the world, it’s true, not only does it make you get physically fit, but mentally fit,” she continued, “so actually that’s the only reason I went.”

When she won, Scott was completely shocked.

“There were two of us left, and they announced the first runner up. I thought she was the winner, so I hugged her, I congratulated her,” she said, “she looked at me and said, ‘No, you’re the one that won.”

Scott chose to participate in the pageant because of its focus on community involvement, and this is reflected in her platform. Scott’s original platform is to encourage people to “share their scars,” meaning be proud of flaws and share them with the world.

However, her platform evolved after she won a prominent beauty pageant as a 52-year-old woman.

“I love the Miss America system,” Scott explained, “but the thing is, the cut off age is 24, that’s saying women are done contributing at 24.”
